This paper addresses the formulation of humanism that distinguishes
contemporary Latin American thought. This humanism is
characterized as critical, associated both with the definitions that are
elaborated from specific philosophical conceptions of Latin America
and the Caribbean, and from its insertion in the framework of historical
processes that were initially delimited from the 1960s to the its
manifestations at present. In this sense, the conditions under which the
controversy between Augusto Salazar and Leopoldo Zea, the emergence
and the derivations that characterize the philosophy of liberation are
reviewed, with different positions as observed in the different theses of
Arturo Roig and Frantz Hinkelammert, the affirmation of a productive
dialogue with Marxism that Pablo Guadarrama sustains, among the main
approaches that have been elaborated in our philosophy.
ER -
